The weekly subscription is £1.00

Uniform should be worn each week. Any uniform items which have been outgrown can be returned to us and will be made available to others in the company free of charge. The company subsidises the cost of new uniform items at £9 for the polo shirt and £10 for the sweat shirt.

We are planning a Coffee Morning on Saturday 31st October at 10am in the Parish Church Hall and will issue more information nearer the time, but would welcome support from as many parents as possible.

Sunday 8th November is Remembrance Sunday when we ask all Boys to attend the Service in the village at 11am. More information will be issued nearer the time.

Each week The Boys' Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. Today we are working with over 60,000 children & young people in over 1500 companies (groups) in the UK & Republic of Ireland every week.

The Boys' Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old. These resources have been developed to help volunteer youth leaders work in a relevant and creative way. We hope through these programmes they will be able to make a positive contribution to a young person's life and be able to share their faith.

The Boys' Brigade has been around for over 125 years and in 2008 we celebrated our 125th Anniversary. The organisation was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith in Glasgow on Thursday 4th October 1883 and was the first of all the uniformed organisations for boys and girls which have since spread all over the world. The first meeting was held at the North Woodside Mission Hall in Maryhill.

The 1st Lochwinnoch Company was formed in 1919 in the Church of Scotland (West) by George Orr Anderson. The Company is a member of Inverclyde & District Battalion.

The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is

"The advancement of Christ's kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness."

We recognise that the influences surrounding our young people are not always helpful and that too many lose control at great cost to themselves, their families and the community. The answer is to catch the energy and enthusiasm of youth and to channel it purposefully.

The Boys' Brigade Motto is:

'Sure & Steadfast'

The motto is taken from the bible, the book of Hebrews, Chapter 6, Verse 19.

The Boys' Brigade operates all over the world with over half a million members worldwide. The Boys' Brigade is a member of the European Fellowship, and of the Global Fellowship the body which unites The Boys' Brigade around the world.
